Losing weight through post pregnancy workouts is on the mind of all mothers. After the trauma of what we’ve been through, we want our life with our beautiful newborn to get back to normal – to feel like our comfortable selves again. Even if we wanted to lose weight before the pregnancy, this is a fantastic opportunity to make that fresh start you always wanted.
As pregnancy is not normal weight gain, post pregnancy workouts need to be different from the regular workouts. Your body has undergone a lot of change while you were pregnant to take care of the baby in your womb and to facilitate delivery. The gradual change over 9 months that you experienced cannot be undone immediately. You need to realize that the body would take time to get back to its original state, be patient and keep at it. Having said that, it is not advisable to sit back and let your body recover in its own time. We need to facilitate the process. This starts with healthy eating and light workouts to begin with.
The workouts need to be very light at the start, you need to give yourself some time to adjust to the added exercise you will not have done for a while. If you had a c- section then it is advised to avoid any abdominal exercises for 3-4 weeks. For the best advise on this consult your doctor.
Some exercises can be a fantastic excuse to bond with your baby. You have the added benefit of not having to leave your newborn at a day care nursery which you may not be comfortable with, plus the financial benefits. Exercise, especially post natal, needs to be conducted in the right mental environment. This will help to alleviate stress and increase healing time, this can be achieved whilst spending time with your baby and getting in the right frame of mind.
Post pregnancy workouts can be conducted in your own home, are low cost by saving you money on the gym and nursery care – plus you can keep an eye on your baby if it makes you feel more comfortable.
Wouldn’t it be great if there post pregnancy workouts designed specifically to take only 90 minutes of your time per week and can be done in the privacy of your own home?
