Exercise During The Third-trimester?

by Pregancy WorkOut DVD

I am 35 weeks along and have maintained a pretty normal weight so far during my pregnancy. I have managed to stay in the 25-35 lb range, so I feel like I have been doing pretty well. Up until recently, I have been able to go on walks and do light pilates and yoga – keeping myself fit for the big day! But, just last week, I have started feeling like there is absolutely no way I can exercise. I am completely exhausted and lightheaded and just want to go home from work and go straight to bed. All I can manage to make myself do is some stretches, just to try to get my back pain to subside. My question is: do you think this is enough? I feel like a little stretching is better than nothing at all, and I am still working on eating a healthy diet, but I just want to make sure I am doing what is best for me and the baby. Has anyone experienced this extreme fatigue during their pregnancies? Any advice? I really appreciate all the answers! :)

I know exactly how you are feeling. With my first pregnancy I stayed active up until about 36 weeks when I just felt like I couldn’t do any type of exercise anymore. I was weak and tired. So I find this very normal. Any exercise you can do, even if it is just stretching, is better than nothing. And if you feel that makes you too tired do not do it. You have been active this entire pregnancy and that will help during labor and recovery. If you need to rest, that is what your body is telling you, listen to it!
With my second pregnancy my OB made me stop my regular exercise program due to preterm labor symptoms. I was only allowed to do yoga. I really feel that the exercise I maintained throughout my entire first pregnancy really helped with delivery and made recovery much easier and faster. So you will be in good shape for your marathon coming up (labor)!
Good luck to you!

this is perfectly normal.. As your body is preparing you for the big day and your due is nearing, it s usual you feel all these symptoms.. Do take rest, rest and rest and dont strain much yourself because you need to save some energy for the big day. Dont get exhausted by doing too much

I am so tired the last thing I can do is think about anything but sitting and relaxing. You can always get your excercise after the baby is here. I’m not saying you shouldnt do anything, but take it easy. You only have 5 more weeks. You arent likely to gain a lot in that time from what I’ve read.

yes i was exhausted with all of my pregnancies. you should talk to your dr at your next appt. it sounds like you may be anemic, its very common for women to become anemic during pregnancy. its not a big deal the dr will prescribe some iron or just have you buy some over the counter. but talk to your dr first, they need to do blood work. don’t just take it without talking to your dr. you can try to eat more red meat and green veggies like spinach, until you have your next appt.
