I am currently 21 weeks pregnant. I am 5.3` and weighted 114 pre pregnancy. I was doing pilates and in a great shape before I got pregnant, now I stopped all exercises, I just don`t feel like doing any of that.
I gained 30 pounds so far. I am always hungry, and don`t eat junk, but have to eat otherwise I feel an empty hole in my chest.
With my first baby, I was so sick, I had morning sickness the whole 9 months, so I only gained about 35 ponds total.
I just realized how much weight I gained already. I will try to watch how much I eat from now on, but just wondering if it really is normal.

Well I didn’t realize that you aren’t really eating for 2. You should increase your calorie intake by 300 calories a day. I ended up putting on 60 pounds & I only lost 40 of it. By the time I lost 40 I was sick of dieting. So I have another 20 to go. Ugh. On the other hand, my mom put on 80 lbs with all her kids & lost all of the weight very quickly. It just depends on the person I guess. (She started around 110-115 lbs)
The doctors usually go by your Pre-pregnancy weight. 15-35 lb range is usually the norm that docs tell you to aim for. 15 lbs for someone overweight, 35 for someone average or underweight.
I am 38 weeks tomorrow and have gained about 35-40 lbs. I was 142 prepregnancy and now around 180 or so. The doctor looked at my weight yesterday and said “weight is good”. I think every doctor is different. I have read on here some people gained a certain amount of weight, which wasnt alot, and their doctor had them see a nutritionist. As long as your doctor doesnt have a problem with it dont worry about it, Your Pregnant!
Are you healthy? If yes then I don’t see a problem. Only your doctor can tell you what would be considered unhealthy. I’m 30 weeks and I haven’t gained anymore weight since 25 weeks. I don’t believe I’ll gain much more. My appetite went down a lot so far for my third trimester.
You can worry about loosing after the baby gets here… breastfeeding is supposed to be great for burning calories so there’s a plus.
I think you’re doing fine, good luck and Congratulations!
If you were skinny before getting pregnant, you typically gain more than an overweight woman would (or at least should). I was average weight when i got pregant, im about 5’6 1/2 and i weigh 159 right now, before i got pregnant i weighed like 18 pounds less than that. I’ve gained too much weight. But my belly has gotten a lot bigger, not really my legs or anything. I’m 18 weeks.

This website will provide you with a guideline as to how much weight you should be gaining. It will give you a minimum, normal, and maximum weight range. However, it is solely a guideline. Every woman and pregnancy is different.
That being said, I think 30 lbs at only 21 weeks is a bit much. My doctor suggested gaining 1 lb a week as of my 11 week visit.
I don’t know of “normal” is the correct term. It’s common to gain that much but not necessarily normal.
I think most OB’s want you to gain about 25-35 lbs. But it’s not a big deal if you gain more.
My boss gained 62 lbs with her son, which is not ideal but really not “bad”.
As long as you and your baby are healthy I wouldn’t worry about it.
the average weight gain for someone who wasnt underweight or overweight is 25-35lbs. but you will gain whatever your body wants. everyone woman is different as is every pregnancy. if your doctor isnt concerned about it though then you shouldnt be either.
My sister gained 35-40lbs with her pregnancy, she was 5’3 and 113lbs pre-pregnancy. I have gained 21lbs at 30 weeks pregnant. I hear that the average most women gain in reality is 44lbs, even though the doctor recommended is 25-35lbs
my doctor didnt want me to gain any more than 30 pounds tops…. i ended up gaining 57lbs by the time i was 9 months. (gaining most in the last 3 months) try not to eat just because you’re bored. try to only eat when your body is really hungry.
