I read that yoga is great for expecting mothers. Is pilates though since it involves much more abdominal work? Are there poses in yoga to avoid? I’m only 5 weeks along. So, I’m not sure when and/or if to avoid doing certain poses.

I took pre-natal yoga classes with both of my babies and a pre-natal pilates with my second child. It helps SOOOOO much because it keeps you strong and you’ll learn how to relax certain parts of your body and that is key during labor/delivery.
I definitely recommend you look into taking a class like these, for expectant mothers, because they are amazing. Also, it helps get your pre-baby body back quicker.
Good luck!
Sure, just take a class and make sure the instructor knows you are pregnant.
I was told that pilates is alright to do, just inform your instructor that you are pregnant and they will have something else for you to do if it will be to hard on you. same thing with yoga. good luck
There are definitely stretches and poses that you should probably not attempt . . . I am taking a pre-natal yoga class that is amazing!
Good luck & best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy!
I do not know about pilates. I know that Yoga is good. I started it when I was 5 weeks also. Talk to the instructor before class and let her know that you are pregnant. There are some poses you should not do. The instructor would let me know and show me something else.
