Exercise Feels So Good?

Submitted by Pregancy WorkOut DVD on December 1, 2009 – 8:54 pm8 Comments

I was working out like a fanatic before I got pregnant and then my doctor made me quit because he was afraid my BMI was too low. So after I got pregnant they told me I could again but only moderate exercise like yoga walking and swimming. But I was so tired and didn’t feel like it. However, this past week I decided to give it a try as I just hit 13 weeks on Tuesday. I’ve been three times this week to the gym and just walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes and it feel so good. I actually feel rejuvenated afterwards. I’m going to try to do yoga tonight with my video I have at home. So anyways, I just wanted to share and also ask if anyone else has any workouts that they’ve been doing that are modified for pregnancy.

I’ve been going to the gym as normal. Like yourself I love it, it makes me feel much better. Keeping fit was a big part of my life before I got pregnant and I want it to be part of my life after I give birth. I had to stop running as I was getting cramps and my doctor advised it. However I have been going to my aerobics classes and I just told my instructor beforehand I was pregnant and she comes over and gives me alternative exercises to the sit-ups and stomach crunches when it comes to that part of the class. The cardio stuff they told me just to do as best I could but they always offer ‘high’ and ‘low’ versions of each exercises so I’ve just been picking and choosing as I feel is right. It’s good to keep exercising – my midwife says it helps you in labour and it means that you won’t put on unnecessary weight e.g. weight that isn’t baby, fluid etc. I’m going to try yoga too soon and a special pregnancy exercise class run by my local hospital!

I just got Jennifer Wolf’s prenatal yoga DVD, I did it this morning. I have been doing yoga for years, it is a bit vigorous but I felt awesome when I was finished! She modifies each pose for each trimester. I also walk 2-4 miles most days. I am determined to stay in shape during pregnancy. I hope to gain only 20 pounds. Anyway good luck!

I have a Prenatal Yoga dvd that I do. At 13 weeks you shouldn’t need to do any modified poses yet. I’m in my third trimester so most of what I do is on the ground or on a chair.

I’ve been walking for an hour 4 days and 1 day off. It feels good, I’m less tired. Also exersise speeds up delivery and recovery

Okay…well the first answer was really rude!
Exercise does feel great especially when you have been restricted. I am exactly the same…I do not feel myself without exercise. I have been extremely lucky and not had to modify any of my exercises…just cut back a little. I am currently doing a dance cardio DVd 3 times per week…it’s so much fun! Stretching exercises…the exercise ball is so relaxing and heps tone and keep things tight and then playing in the yard with my hubby and kids every evening. Those activities are my exercise during pregnancy! I did yoga with my second pregnancy when I was put on exercise restriction…but it just wasn’t for me. I like a high energy routine that really gets my pulse up, yoga was a tad bit too boring for me, to each their own!
    Congrats on the baby! :)
