How Long Do You Think I’ll Lose The Weight After The Pregnancy?

by Pregancy WorkOut DVD

I am 38 weeks pregnant and my weight is 180 lbs, I started with 130 lbs so that means I gained 50 lbs total. Is that too much? My question is :how long do you think I’ll lose the weight after the pregnancy? (b4 I was pregnant, I used to do hardcore exercises 7 days a week so I m doing it again after the pregnancy (I do workout videos like P90X and SHAPE)

My midwife said to me after my first pregnancy, it took nine months to put it on, it can take nine months to take it off. So I allowed 9 months.
I was a UK size 6 prior to falling pregnant, after 8 months I was a size 8 and I stayed there too. I did that with NO excercise just healthy eating.
Good Luck

It takes a few months or longer, usually. If you breast feed you will notice the weight will be gone faster. I ended up smaller than I have ever been after I had my 2nd child because I breast fed her, with my first I was young and it was strange for me to breast feed. Now I have only gained about 20 pounds so far and I am 30 weeks now, but I am also older now I am 30 years old, so I have a feeling that it will be harder to lose this weight because of my age. A friend of mine gained 100 pounds with her kid and lost it all within 5 months. If you eat right, exercise and breast feed you will notice the weight coming off soon after the birth. Good luck!

Experts are now saying to give yourself a year to return to normal. This is in response to women crash dieting and exercising too hard in order to lose weight faster because “celebrities do it” Well, most women know that’s unrealistic, and most men should know not to expect their partners to go back to her pre pregnancy weight so quickly.
50lbs is actually a lot of weight to put on during pregnancy. But women gain that and lose it all the time so you will be ok.
I will be breastfeeding and that’s supposedly going to help.
Good Luck!

I gained 29 pounds.
Within a week I had lost 20 pounds.
My son is now 5 weeks old I still have to lose 9 more pounds – I haven’t had time to work out. But I do plan on trying to lose it – plus a few more would be nice :) .
If you were an active person before you were pregnant I assume you will be more motivated then me – and should lose it alot quicker.
ANYWAY – I would guess you’ll lose a good chunk of it right away – especially if you are going to be breastfeeding

9 months to put it on, 9 months to shed it off. Of course you can speed up the process by breastfeeding, excersizing and eating right. Good luck with the baby!

It could drop off very easily or you could struggle to lose it. Nobody knows how long it will take you. Some people have a really hard time dropping it no matter how much they exercise. You’ll just have to wait and see.

I know breastfeeding takes weight off quick. Not sure how long it will take to lose the weight but i’d say within the first 6 months.

on average it takes about half to a full year to get back into shape. be realistic: dont work out too much because if your breastfeeding, it could compromise the milk.
